Manager’s Musings

June Greetings from Resurrection Food Pantry! Welcome to summer.

I am very excited to share with you some things that are happening at the pantry. We have had a lot of activities in the works for a while and several have come to fruition since my last newsletter.

The pantry garden has been tilled up and by the time you read this, completely planted. Jayne Rising is the lead gardener and has been planning and planting seedlings for quite a while as all enthusiastic gardeners do this time of year. The garden team is now in action again and we are expectantly waiting for more fresh produce from the garden.

I have been promoting the Stamp Out Hunger food drive since August 2025. We sought and received a grant from the Doctors In Recital concert and organization to buy collection bags, we recruited volunteers to help collect and sort the food. I asked for 8,000# of food for our pantry from the collection. But I received a little over 10,000# because more was collected than we expected. At the Green Bay Post Offices, over 94,000# was collected. DePere collected another 23,000#. Our pantry provided 23, two person collection teams, and we had over 80 people help sort the food we received at the pantry in the afternoon. Unloading and sorting 10,000# of food was finished in about 3 hours. That was amazing!  When I was told that we received the extra 2,000# more than ordered I was in a panic because the 2025 collection didn’t even get fully sorted and put away until the following Monday.  The volunteers this year were more plentiful and worked very well together. I had only expected about 50 volunteers but God, in His wisdom, provided many more. I am really thankful for God’s Wisdom, generosity for the extra food, and for all of the volunteers who responded to His urging to help. It was a very exciting day for me to see how wonderful our community really is and what a joy it is to be part of it.

The next tremendous event to tell you about is the Royal Rump Rumble diaper collection organized and implemented by WBAY and Fox Community Credit Union. There was nothing that our pantry had to do to participate. This was just a gift that appeared as so often does when God decides to help at our pantry. I was notified that our pantry was selected to participate. I think we were recommended to receive this by Feeding America. I had expected that we would get several packages of diapers but was shocked when I was invited to pick them up on May 11. We filled up the back of the Pantry pickup, floor to ceiling and had to fill another truck half full.

As you now know we finally have a NEW web site. This is exciting and something that needed to be done because our old web site was hard to access and too stationary. Our new web site is ResurrectionPantrygb.org. I am planning to post more stories and announcements there each month. feel free to share this with your friends.

We also have a new Email address. It is Resurrectionpantry@gmail.com.

We are not done yet with new developments at the pantry. I hope to have additional news in the July newsletter. There is a lot going on and I am anxious to tell you about it but we are still waiting for some approvals before I tell those stories.

Thank You to all those who helped with the food drive(s), the volunteers, those who financially support the pantry, and those who keep us in their prayers. We know God answers your prayers because things happen for us in unexpected ways. May God’s Peace be with you all, always.
